Security First: How We Approach the Protection of Your Cryptocurrencies at crypto4me

At crypto4me, we understand that successfully exchanging your financial resources for digital assets is only the beginning. The most important task is their subsequent protection. The question of where to store cryptocurrencies after an exchange is crucial for every responsible investor. To help you make the right decision, we have prepared an overview of two basic custody methods, Hot Wallet and Cold Wallet, and we will explain why at crypto4me we rely on the strictest security standards.

Everyday dynamics

A Hot Wallet represents a software interface that is constantly connected to the internet. Whether it is an application on your smartphone, a program on your computer, or a browser extension, its main advantage is immediate accessibility. Such a solution is ideal for users who need to work with cryptocurrencies operationally, carry out frequent purchases, or react quickly to sharp price movements. However, this convenience comes with a certain cost in the form of increased risk, because a permanent connection to the network creates theoretical space for cyberattacks, phishing, or device compromise through malicious software. Within crypto4me, we therefore use these wallets only to a minimal extent to ensure the necessary liquidity and the smooth processing of your immediate transactions.

Long-term storage

On the opposite side of the spectrum stands the Cold Wallet, which operates on the principle of complete isolation from the online world. These are physical devices that store the private keys to your assets in an offline environment, making them the digital equivalent of a bank vault. Since these keys have never come into contact with the internet, they are immune to remote hacking attacks and digital threats that commonly endanger computers or mobile phones. Although handling them requires a little more time and the physical presence of the device when confirming a transaction, for long-term asset storage Cold Wallets represent the globally recognized gold standard of security.

A model for individual users

If you decide to manage part of your assets on your own, we recommend taking inspiration from our model and choosing a so-called hybrid approach. This consists of dividing your portfolio into two parts. Keep only a smaller amount of funds intended for everyday expenses or short-term transactions in a Hot Wallet, while always directing the majority of your funds into the safety of a Cold Wallet. However, when using the services of crypto4me, this technological and security burden rests entirely on our shoulders. We take care of ensuring that your funds are stored in offline vaults, while you can fully focus on monitoring your goals.

Cryptocurrencies at the gates of Congress: Tax reform faces political resistance

The U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means recently discussed a package of six bills that could fundamentally change the taxation of digital assets.
